I recently read an interview of Raj Batra, President of Industry Automation Division, by Bill Lydon of Automation.com. The interview was titled Siemens Digital Plant Vision. Read more...
Raspberry Pi: A lot of people have been waiting anxiously to get their hands on this new, inexpensive Linux based single board computer (www.raspberrypi.org). Guess what? We’re hoping to hear from some of you that have been thinking about project where you want to make the world smarter by embedding intelligence on a SBC running KSX. A killer combination for sure!
We’ve already got units on order to begin creating our first KSX for Raspberry Pi System. Neural network models, genetic algorithm optimizers and fuzzy logic in a nice IDE to control anything. That’s our vision! Read more...

If you use Wonderware, or any of the other HMI's commonly used we're looking for you. KSX is designed to add intelligence to every and anything. Through our industry standard OPC bridge it is extremely simple to connect our KSX to your HMI. By doing so you now can make any of the equipment you monitor and control intelligent. Intelligent, rule based alarming is a snap. Intelligent set point decisions using the best heuristics possible can relentlessly monitor your process pushing performance to the highest possible levels possible. Read more...
An expert control system, as we think of them, is an expert system, or artificial intelligence program, that has been specifically created to monitor and control some kind of processing plant in real-time. They are sometimes also referred to as a supervisory control program although supervisory control is not usually thought to utilize artificial intelligence components. Read more...
We just received another award. Its always great to get a little recognition!
I like the definition of and expert system found in Wikipedia. Paraphrasing, they define an expert system as software that attempts to reproduce the performance of one or more human experts in a specific problem domain, and that they are an example of a traditional application artificial intelligence. The first DARPA Grand Challenge took place in the Mojave Desert in 2004. It was the first long distance competition for driverless cars in the world. When we first heard of the challenge we immediately thought that KnowledgeScape would be a great platform to provide the intelligence needed to glue together all the sensors, control systems and needed control logic together. There are many concepts and methods available to us to perform a simulation in KSX. For the case of the Intelligent Traffic System we’re going to use some of the “agent” concepts previously discussed. Read more...
Often times it is necessary to simulate systems in order to define, refine, optimize or just get confidence in them before deployment. One approach is to connect a first principles or phenomenological modeling system to KSX and then interact with the model through KSX rules and neural models etc. Connecting KSX to third party software packages can be accomplished in a variety of ways and will be discussed in another blog post.
