In 2000 KnowledgeScape was granted several patents throughout the world for its Adaptive Object-Oriented Optimization Software System that is the core of the KnowledgeScape Adaptive Modeling and Real-time Expert Control System. KnowledgeScape has been used since 1997 throughout the world to control the largest and most sophisticated minerals processing plants in real-time, calculating hundreds of process set points on a second by second basis. Besides using crisp and fuzzy logic to monitor and control the processes many of these plants also use adaptive neural network models of the processes along with genetic algorithm optimization to enhance the rule-based expert strategies.

We have not settled however, and have been busy working on KSX, the next generation of expert control. All of the features from the old system are included, but in order to take expert control to new levels of performance, scaleability and add the new features we wanted, KSX has been built form the ground up. This allowed us a chance to revisit some major design concepts that have driven the development of KSX.
