Instant HMI

KSX is the most powerful expert system software in the world. It was designed to let process control engineers create rule and model based solutions to control problems as quickly and easily as possible. Sometimes you want to let others interact with the system, but not give them access to all that power. This is often the case with control room operators. It would be great to give them insight into the strategy's operation, but without the ability to change anything. Many times we have solved this problem by creating specific pages for them in the HMI of the underlying control system. We've even used tools like Wonderware or Citect to create HMI's specifically for the expert system. This is a heavyweight solution however, and many times makes us dependent on others to set them up. So we wanted a way to easily and quickly give the operators access to KSX but keep it safe and simple. In KSX we can already create custom views, that is, we can combine together trends, tables, logs, schematics etc. into any form we want, the only thing missing was how to pull these views out of KSX, and give them to the operator. I implemented a really cool new feature that lets you export any KSX custom view as a standalone application. Just right click the node you're interested in, and export the custom view. It gets saved as a shortcut that opens that view when clicked. So rather than spend a bunch of time configuring an HMI, you can just right click and bam, instant HMI. Try it out today.
