We are pleased to announce a new pricing structure for KnowledgeScape’s flagship product, KSX. You can see from the KSX product page, that it is the most advanced real-time adaptive optimization and expert control software available. Traditionally we have sold to large companies, and implemented control strategies in some of the largest plants in the world. By implementing a new pricing structure, we hope to open up KSX to use in some of the smallest plants in the world too. There is nothing that says that scale has anything to do with solving control or optimization problems, and we want to see KSX used to solve real world control problems, and embed intelligence into any equipment or process. If you are using Wonderware InTouch, Intellution iFix, Citect Scada or any other popular HMI software, you are a perfect candidate to use KSX. If your process is complex enough to justify an HMI to visualize, handle alarms and enter set points, your process can be optimized using KSX’s rules, fuzzy logic, models and optimizers.

Integration is easy because KSX has an integrated OPC client and server, as well as an optional integrated HTTP (Web) server, so communicating with your HMI/Scada system is a snap.

This new pricing structure does not mean that you will be getting a pared down, “lite” version of KSX. KSX will always include all of the features that make it unique and more powerful than any other expert system shell available. We are simply going to price it based on the hardware on which you want to install it. The goal is to match the price to the scale and extent of the problem you will be solving. Many, if not most of our customers, will be able to reap the benefits of process optimization by installing KSX on a single dual-core PC. Others may want the benefit of parallel processing for modeling, and choose to install on quad or 8 core servers, or would like remote configuration and development and add a client only license, or license a second development machine. Our most demanding customers will deploy 10’s or 100’s of processor cores for data-mining and AI research using their own data centers or cloud computing on Amazon EC2 or Rackspace.com.

The bottom line for this move is that we want to remove any barriers of entry for using KSX to optimize your process. We’re excited about this, and hope that it will enable many new users to become heroes in their organizations, by reducing costs, increasing production and solving real-world control problems.

The following pricing is for an introductory period that will last through October 2009 and may increase thereafter, depending on uptake.
